Think About the Baby

Ya know, everyone is all jumpy about Bristol Palin's bump and how Sarah should be concerning herself with her family issues instead of running for VP.

Well, Bristol is 17, almost an adult and certainly old enough to be left alone (and boy, was she!). As someone once said, "I'm already pregnant. What other shenanigans can I get into?"

Why is no one talking about the fact that she has a special-needs infant at home? If you had a 4-month-old baby with Down syndrome, would you be doing this? This is for men as well as women, but mostly women. Family values, anyone?

Her husband is a full time caregiver so he's getting the brunt of a lot of this.

More importantly, why is everyone talking about the babies and not about her voting record as it concerns Americans of all ages. Tell me MORE about her Media Bigwigs! I already know that she can win beauty pageants and birth babies and shoot a gun. Time to change the tune.

Let's hear more about those ethics charges, too. Potentially using your position to get your former brother-in-law fired raises serious questions about your honesty and overall character.

Yeah, you're right. The family stuff is a sideshow. Although it does fly in the face of some "conservative" "values".

I was horribly offended by a caller to an NPR show who asked the host to have a panel made exclusively of WOMEN to discuss the VP choice because "women understand the needs of families."

WHAT?! Have you MET my husband?! Just because someone's a man doesn't mean he doesn't have JUST as much stake in his family as a woman does (and don't even GO there with me with the straight vs. gay families, either).

This is all playing VERY badly with me - all of it. Good thing I wasn't going to vote for them, anyway.
